Doing Some Whitewater
The boats were finally finished and ready for the trip today, so we took them for a test paddle. Mike decided this was whitewater paddling. Fourteen inches of wet snow yesterday and more to come. The weather is trying to tell us something - maybe "head south"?

Kayak Progress
While Geezer Mike is away on the road for work, I can't resist doing some more work on the new boat. Yesterday, I removed the clamps from the new coaming riser pieces and scraped off the excess dookie schmutz (thickened epoxy). Will add some fillets of schmutz today where it is missing on the bulkheads.

New Kayak - Geezer's got to play
While Geezer Al has always made these trips in a unique or high performance kayak, Geezer Mike has been paddling a 16' tupperware container. Not anymore!
Last weekend we drove to CT to look at a composite 17' Chesapeake. Plywood hull in dark blue, cedar & mahogany deck with birdseye maple trim. Absolutely gorgeous! Problem is, the cockpit didm't quite fit Mike's rather generous frame. But the boat was so doggone pretty he just had to have it. So what does a geezer do when faced with a beauty like that? Take a SawzAll to it, of course.
We are in the process of renovating the cockpit combing, moving the seat, adding bracing and some other small improvements. We will keep you informed - hopefully it will float!
